Privacy, without guesswork.

1. Scope and controller

This Privacy Policy applies to the TextileLens mobile application, related fabric-analysis services, and the official TextileLens support website (together, the “Service”). The Service is provided by Jianhui Liu / 刘建辉 (“TextileLens,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

TextileLens provides photo-assisted fabric observations and candidate classifications. It is designed to minimize data collection and does not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

2. Information we handle

Information you choose to provide

• Fabric photos. Photos captured with the camera or selected from your photo library, including front, reverse, macro, label, or other optional views.
• Fabric details. Optional observations such as stretch, surface, texture, intended use, labels, or notes that you enter.
• Support communications. Your email address and the information you include when you contact support.

Information stored on your device

Saved fabric photos, saved reports, app preferences, language choice, and local trial-usage status may be stored in the app’s private storage on your device. TextileLens does not receive this locally stored content unless you choose a cloud-analysis feature, send it to support, or otherwise share it.

Service and network metadata

When the Service communicates with a backend, infrastructure providers may process limited technical information such as IP address, request time, response status, device or app version, language, security signals, and request-size information. We use this information only to deliver, secure, diagnose, and maintain the Service.

3. Cloud fabric analysis

When cloud analysis is enabled in your version of TextileLens and you start an analysis, the selected photos, relevant fabric details, and requested language are transmitted over an encrypted connection to the TextileLens backend. The backend processes the request through infrastructure and model-inference service providers in order to return a report.

The current service architecture uses Cloudflare for edge infrastructure and OpenRouter to route inference requests to an available model provider. The final model provider may vary. Provider-specific data practices may therefore vary, and we select and configure providers with the aim of limiting content retention and training use.

The TextileLens application backend does not intentionally write uploaded fabric photos or generated report content to a persistent application database. Cloudflare, OpenRouter, and the selected model provider may temporarily process content or retain limited information where necessary for routing, abuse prevention, security, billing, or legal compliance under their applicable terms and privacy practices. OpenRouter states that image inputs are not persisted beyond the time needed to route a request except for those limited purposes; model-provider practices can differ.

Do not submit photos containing faces, identity documents, payment information, confidential documents, trade secrets, or other personal information that is not needed for fabric analysis.

4. How we use information

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

• perform the fabric analysis you request and display a report;
• save and organize reports on your device when you choose to save them;
• enforce local trial limits and provide purchased access where offered;
• respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests;
• detect abuse, protect the Service, investigate failures, and maintain reliability;
• comply with applicable law and enforce our agreements.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use fabric photos for third-party advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not intentionally use your fabric photos to train a TextileLens model. Any production model provider must be evaluated and configured separately for its own retention and training practices.

5. When information is shared

We may share or allow processing of information:

• With service providers that host, secure, route, or perform the analysis request, subject to their applicable agreements and privacy practices.
• At your direction when you export, share, or send a report or photo.
• For legal and safety reasons where disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud, or secure the Service.
• In a business transaction involving a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer, with appropriate notice and safeguards where required.

6. Retention and deletion

• On-device content remains until you delete the saved sample, delete the app, or erase the device, subject to device backups you control.
• Analysis content is intended to be transient in the TextileLens backend and is not intentionally stored in a TextileLens application database. Infrastructure and inference providers may retain operational metadata or limited content under their published policies, settings, and legal obligations.
• Support messages may be retained while we handle the request and afterward where reasonably necessary for records, security, dispute resolution, or law.

Deletion from one location may not automatically remove copies you exported, device backups, or information that another provider must retain by law.

7. Your choices and rights

You can choose whether to grant camera or photo-library access in iOS Settings. You can delete saved samples from within TextileLens. If you do not want selected photos sent for cloud analysis, do not start a cloud analysis.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify the request. Because TextileLens currently does not require an account, we may be unable to associate an anonymous analysis request with a particular person after it has completed.

You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. These rights are subject to applicable exceptions and do not limit mandatory consumer rights.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted network transport where cloud analysis is provided. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and any reports you export.

9. Children

TextileLens is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in the user’s jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. International processing

The Service’s providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use or rely on appropriate contractual or legal transfer mechanisms. Local privacy rights remain available as provided by applicable law.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy when the Service, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here, update the date above, and provide additional notice when required. Material changes apply prospectively unless law permits otherwise.
